Over lunch recently, an online publisher shared with me an RFP that he had received. The advertiser wanted to know how many impressions they could get for a million dollars. The publisher looked at me and said, "See, they still aren't getting it, are they?" When I asked what he meant by that, he said, "Broadband isn't about building reach. It's about building relationships. Broadcast is all about how many saw the advertising. Broadband is all about how much time they spend with the advertising. What advertisers should be asking is not how many impressions they can get for $1 million, but how much involvement they can get for that amount."

LONDON (MarketWatch) -- British Airways Plc on Monday said it won't exercise its pre-emption rights to acquire any of the Iberia shares being sold by Spanish bank BBVA or cigarette distributor Logista. BA Chief Financial Officer Keith Williams said that Iberia's position as a key industrial partner remains important and is not dependent on an increase in shareholding. The announcement comes after BBVA and Logista said they wanted to sell their shares to unlisted savings bank Caja Madrid. Under a pre-emption agreements signed in 1999, if any of the core shareholders in the Spanish carrier want to sell their shares, the remaining core shareholders have the right to buy. BA has a 10% stake in Iberia. Europe's fourth-largest carrier has received several takeover approaches in recent months, including one from a consortium led by BA and private equity firm TPG. Caja Madrid said last week it intended to build a stake of more than 23% in Iberia.
