MARTINSVILLE, Va. -- The Henry County (Va.) Industrial Development Authority has purchased a 621-acre piece of property on the North Carolina/Virginia state line for an industrial and business park that aims to take advantage of positive economic development momentum in the Triad.

Big-box and national retailers that stood to receive millions in property and sales tax rebates to expand here may not be the only ones stymied by Austin's recent decision to disallow the giving of economic incentives to developers of retail projects. (SPG)
