SAN FRANCSICO (MarketWatch) -- Swiss drugmaker Novartis AG plans on having four new cancer drugs on the market by 2011, the Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday on its Web site, citing company sources. The newspaper said Novartis sees at least one of the drugs as a potential blockbuster, defined by at least $1 billion in annual sales, according to David Epstein, Novartis' cancer drug unit president. The drugs in question have yet to be approved by regulators, the Journal said.

AMB Property Corp, the world's second-largest industrial real estate investment trust, plans to raise as much as US$4 billion in Asia next year to invest in the region's growing market for warehouses and shipping sites. The fund will invest in real estate in China, Singapore, Korea, India and Japan, said AMB Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Hamid Moghadam in Tokyo yesterday. San Francisco-based AMB began investing in Asia in 2003, and the region accounts for less than 10 percent of its global portfolio, according to Bloomberg News. AMB and rival ProLogis, the world's biggest publicly traded warehouse developer, are tapping into growth in Asia where demand for industrial land is expected to surge as shipping increases. "In terms of new activity, Asia represents a very significant focus," Moghadam said. "We expect the market to be a very significant contributor to our annual activity." SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Emcore Corp. said late Friday that it received a letter from Nasdaq on Oct. 2 stating that the company is not in compliance with the exchange's listing requirements and that its common stock is subject to delisting. The Albuquerque, N.M.-based provider of compound semiconductor-based products said the notice was expected and was due to its inability to hold an annual shareholders' meeting by Sept. 30. Emcore plans to submit a letter to request an extension to regain compliance with Nasdaq's requirements.
